 *The Signs of His Coming* 


Matthew 24:3 *“As he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming…?”* 


It’s a fact that Christ Jesus is coming again. Although we do not know the time or date but he told us to look out for some signs that will be pointers to the nearness of his return.


Luke 21:31 *“Even so, when you see these things taking place, understand and know that the kingdom of God is at hand.”* 


But why the signs? 


• *God desires that we get to heaven.* He invested so much in Christ’s redemptive work that it amounts to nothing if we fail to make it. Jesus said *“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”* (Luke 12:32). The signs are to heighten our expectation of Jesus' return.


• *To get us ready and prepared.* The signs do not point to a particular day but  to Christ’s imminent return. *“and be like men who are waiting for their master to come…, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks. If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants!”* (Luke 12:36,38). 

When we see the signs, we should buckle up and be prepared.


What are these signs we should be looking out for?


• *Wars and rumours of wars.* *“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars.”* (Matthew 24:6). It was said that the First World War was the war to end all wars. Well, it didn’t. Since the end of that war, there have been more than 102 wars and some are ongoing. This is a telltale that Jesus’ return is very near.


• *Increase in natural disasters* . *“…and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.”* (Matthew 24:7). The 2020 Ecological Threat Register shows that the world has witnessed a tenfold increase in natural disasters since 1960. Look at your local and international news. Much of what you see and hear is the troubles of the world. It is either the rising water levels due to global warming, increase in desertification, wild fires or famine. It will continue to get worse. Unfortunately, the world won’t get better .


• *Increase of religious apathy and  irreligion* . The number of atheists is rising the world over. Research shows that the number of atheists or irreligious is more than 1 billion or more than 16% of the world population. *“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”* (2 Timothy 4:3-4).  It’s happening already. Be ready. Christ’s return is very near.


- *The world wide preaching of the gospel.* Every nation or people must hear about the saving grace of Jesus before he returns. The command of Jesus *“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”* (Matthew 28:19) has led to evangelization of the world today than in any time in history. The advent of cable TV, internet and social media has made it possible for the gospel to reach even the most difficult and gospel unfriendly nations. *“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”*  (Matthew 24:14)


- *Increase of sin* . The time we live or the period just before Jesus comes will be the vilest in history. *“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.”* (2 Timothy 3:1-5)


These and some other signs before us are pointing us to Jesus imminent return.


 *“but when these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near!”* (Luke 21:28)

 FEED MY  SHEEP DEVOTIONAL By Pastor Seth  *HE IS COMING, PLEASE BE READY (Part 1)*   *“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”* (Matthew 24:44) Very soon the wait will be over, time will be no more and the promised Christ will return. The story is not new. Jesus is coming to rapture his children to heaven where they rightly belong. Two things are evident in the verse above:  a. He’s coming when we least expect; at the time, day, month and year we think not. He’s coming but we *“… know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”* (Matthew 25:13). His coming will be: • Unexpected. Unexpected not because we do not know he is coming, but because we did not know it will happen on that day. We know he is coming. It may not be today. Walking with God

Walking with God is what each of us is called to do. It is a great privilege and uncommon honour to walk with the God of the universe.  We didn't just fall from somewhere, we were made, created for a reason and that reason  is for you and I to have a walking relationship with our Maker. Revelation 4:11  "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." We were made to give him pleasure. This means our life brings joy and satisfaction to God. Anything less than this is the abuse of creation. When we decide to walk with God, we are DELIBERATELY deciding to use our resources and through our conduct to bring pleasure to him.
