*HE IS COMING, PLEASE BE READY (Part 1)*

*“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”* (Matthew 24:44)

Very soon the wait will be over, time will be no more and the promised Christ will return. The story is not new. Jesus is coming to rapture his children to heaven where they rightly belong.

Two things are evident in the verse above:

a. He’s coming when we least expect; at the time, day, month and year we think not. He’s coming but we *“… know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”* (Matthew 25:13).

His coming will be:

Unexpected. Unexpected not because we do not know he is coming, but because we did not know it will happen on that day. We know he is coming. It may not be today. But he will come some day and soon.

Sudden. The world on that day will go about the business of buying and selling. The sinners will still be sinners. The hypocrites will still be preaching and singing. Everything will be normal like the day before. Then suddenly, everything will change. *“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”* (Matthew 24:27). It will be like the speed of light. It willing be so sudden it gives no one the room to prepare. *“Behold, I come as a thief.”* (Revelation 16:15). He will come unannounced.

Purposeful. It’s just for the saints. It’s not for the crowd in the church. It’s not for the sinning Christian or for the backsliding preacher. It’s not for those who have so much power, honour and gifts but little holiness. He’s rather coming *“to present himself with a splendid church, one without any sort of stain or wrinkle on her clothes, but rather one that is holy and blameless.”* (Ephesians 5:27 CEB).

b. He wants us to be ready and prepared to go. Remember Lot’s wife. She was so close to making it out of the cursed city. But she wasn’t ready. She wasn’t prepared. She became lost for all eternity. Not every christian will be ready. Not every preacher, worker or leader in the church will be prepared. But you must be ready.

It’s not enough to know or believe that Jesus will come again and soon. It is more important to be ready and prepared to go with him. How are you preparing? Are you born again? Are you living to please him?

*“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”* (Revelation 22:12)
